OUT and ABOUT with Seeker Chick Mai-Liis: checking out the Cornwall Police Open House and the Off the Wall – Cornwall Youth Multimedia Art Group Exhibition at Cline House

Wednesday, May 15th was a busy evening as I checked out these two exciting events in Cornwall plus more.

First I stopped by the Cornwall Police Service Open House at the Crime Reduction & Community Partnerships office on Montreal Road. So many happy children checking out the great services that we have in our community and of course partaking of the wonderful BBQ by the Cornwall Optimist Club. Such a great way to celebrate “National Police Week”

Then I stopped in at the Cline House Gallery, located at 204 Second St. East, Cornwall to check out the Off The Wall – Cornwall Youth Multimedia Art Group Exhibition “Waste not/Want – Explorations in food culture. This is an after-school program led by artist Sean George, that engages youth in community, art, and current issues. The project is generously supported by the Social Development Council of Cornwall & Area and the Cline House. and I was also excited to experience the Zine Class Launch featuring the zine “Bad Apples #2” – the Food Issue! This zine was written, drawn and laid out by a very talented group of Cornwall teens under the guidance of Stacey Case. For more info about the Cline House visit: www.clinehousegallery.com

If you’re wondering what a Zine is, here is a description from Wikipedia. “A zine (/ziːn/ ZEEN; short for magazine or fanzine) is a small-circulation self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images, usually reproduced via a copy machine. Zines are the product of either a single person or of a very small group, and are popularly photocopied into physical prints for circulation.
