Cornwall, Ontario – The Seeker learned that March 31, 2023, “The Care Centre” located at 510 Second Street East in Cornwall, ON received a mandatory order from the Superior Court of Justice to vacate the building on a temporary basis.

The order was granted following a motion by the Cornwall Fire Service due to significant safety concerns, which prompted the Fire Chief’s immediate action to evacuate the building at the end of the previous week.

The Court recognized that this may be challenging for some residents, but emphasized the City of Cornwall’s commitment to finding safe and suitable accommodation for the few remaining individuals in the building. The decision was given orally due to the urgency of the situation.
