LTE RE: Cornwall Shakes Things Up. Cornwall Should Print its own Money

I was interested to learn in the article “Cornwall Shakes Things Up,” that the City has so many new hires, as our tax base is not significantly increasing for these “Sunshine List” positions, plus the $112,000 plus benefits for the yet to be hired artistic director at the yet to be completed Arts Centre, I thought I would provide the “Brain Trust on Pitt St. (aka Council and City Hall), with an old way of raising funds.

Why not print our own money, as the Cornwall Branch of the Bank of Montreal did in 1859?  This would solve all our money issues, and cover the 15% plus tax increase being discussed at the moment.

“Just saying”

Ian Bowering,
Cornwall.
