From Pancakes to Purpose: Cornwall’s Centre 105 Serves Up More Than Breakfast

On Thursday, June 5th, Centre 105 held a breakfast fundraiser. Staff and volunteers, including a student from the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Control Operations, served pancakes, sausages, fruit, juice, coffee, and pastries to attendees.

The centre has been providing free breakfasts to those in need and a safe, no-judgment space to socialize since 2016. With over 20,000 meals provided in 2024, and the need for food security steadily growing, Centre 105 plays a crucial role in the community. As of September 2024, meal offerings were increased to four days a week (Tuesday-Friday). Assistance with basic needs such as hygiene products, winter clothing, mobile medical care, and addiction counseling is also provided.

I spoke to Taylor Seguin, Executive Director, in the facilities’ newly painted electric orange pantry. I learned that in June of 2024, thanks to renovation work completed by Millennial Contracting, much-needed drop-in laundry and shower facilities were added to Centre 105’s services. Taylor indicated that plans for several other fundraisers are forthcoming to raise awareness, supplement food donations, and help with general operating costs.

Centre 105 is a Registered Charity (10808-4658RR0030) located in Cornwall at105 Second St. West On. Open Tues-Fri. 9am-12pm.

Mission: We are a safe, accessible, welcoming place. We offer a meal, support, community and a range of basic needs. We journey with others seeking equity for all.
