Keeping Track of Inflation

Economists predict a recession—if not a full-blown Depression—could hit in 2025

We’ve all felt the sting of rising prices since Covid, but with the added pressure of potential tariffs, a weakened Canadian dollar, increased shipping and fuel costs, and climate-related disruptions to agriculture, it seems wise to start tracking prices ourselves. That way, we can see just how things shift over the next 6 to 12 months.

Every two weeks, we’ll head out and update our list of “essentials.” We’ll stick with the same products every time for a fair comparison, and we’re using Food Basics as our benchmark store. I’ve chosen these items because they are what we use a lot of in my family. If there is a particular item you would like us to track, send an email to [email protected] attention Julia.
