Cases continue to rise in the Region

Eastern Ontario prepares to move to the Orange-Protect level on Monday

In his bi-weekly media briefing, Dr. Paul Roumeliotis spoke about the move to orange and the fact that 60% of our cases are still traced to close contact.

He also explained the why 30 of the 31 cases added on Wednesday to Cornwall, were removed and attributed to SD&G.

The cases come for the ongoing outbreak in a dormitory attached to the Al-Rashid Islamic Institute on Highway 2. The address listed the institute in Cornwall, but it is actually in SD&G, hence the change a day later. The case count in that outbreak now sits at 43. The dormitory is in full lock-down while the other parts of the institute remain open.

Outside of that outbreak., 4 mores cases were added today to the Cornwall count. Our Rate of infection is sitting at 1.5. The situation in Long Term Care is stable.
